Short Biography

Chryssanthos Zamboulis (male) was the director of the 2nd Propedeutic Department of Internal Medicine, Aristotle's University of Thessaloniki (AUTH)from 2003-2011. He is the founder and director of the Hypertension Excellence Centre from 1980 until today. As Emeritus Professor of Internal Medicine he continues to have an active and leading role in research projects of the Hypertension Excellence Centre(AUTH). He was former president of the Greek Sociery of Hypertension, representative of Greece in the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) and in the International Society of Hypertension. He served as delegate of Greece in the European Science Foundation and of the General Secretariat of Research and Technology in the EU, in medical research subjects and international clinical trials. He is vice-president of the Advisory Board of the National Documentation Center, and he has been a British Council fellow at the Department of Clinical Pharmacology, Royal Postgraduate Medical School 1976-1979, 1980, Hammersmith Hospital, London, UK. He holds a remarkable record of scientific work related to CVD and hypertension published in more than 130 scientific articles, which gathered more than 3000 citations. He has been the primary investigator in several relevant projects and clinical trials. His group is conducting pioneer research in the field of microcirculation, with an outstanding research activity focused on the application of the newest and widely used methods of molecular biology and vessel image analysis in the field of CVD.
